High Insulin/ Type 2 Diabetes
Hi guys,
We got some diagnosis this week and am looking for some dietary guidance.
Does milk POWDER cause the same spike in insulin as milk itself? We've tried every other type of milk (almond, rice, coconut, soy) and we just cannot stomach them.
I know we have to swop out all our refined sugar, bread, rice and pasta for brown/ wholewheat options.
Can we still want fruit and veggies as normal or are there certain ones we need to stay away from in particular?
We don't even consume that much sugar to begin with. I take no sugar in my hot beverages and my husband takes one sugar in his coffee and honey in his tea. 2kgs of sugar lasts us about six months, if not more.
And we don't really eat high in sugar cereals (maybe a box four times a year- we normally eat corn flakes, bran, etc.), nor do we typically have sweets or ice cream in the house constantly (I think we've bought three 1.8kg tubs of ice cream over the last two years).
The only thing we do go through quite a bit are cooldrinks (sodas), we share one glass with dinner every night so we will opt for sugar free, is that OK?
