Is my son telling the truth?

So I found my 15 year old son's Instagram. I wasn't going out of my way to look for it, but Instagram sometimes shows you "contacts" if they signed up with their number. I didn't know it was him because the profile picture and username was kind of anonymous. That made me curious because so I scrolled through and I saw it was my son. I don't live with him and his dad because I work in another state so I called him asking about one of the pictures he posted which was a lot of blood from cuts. He told me it was just special effects makeup that his girlfriend did on him. I asked him well why do you also post depressing quotes and he told me it's just for the aesthetic. He assured me he was fine and then hung up. I know he has issues with his dad so I was thinking that caused him to feel this way. (He recently told his dad that he truthfully plans on cutting him off when he's older because he's toxic and his dad told him that he wouldn't want him at his funeral if he died, BUT my husband apologized instantly for that statement!) But if he says that it's just aesthetic then maybe I should just trust his word?? I might just be freaking myself out
