Trisomy 18 & Trisomy 13
I had a panorama test done. Results came back positive for trisomy 18 and trisomy 13. I have to go in tomorrow to see a high risk doctor and another ultrasound. The nurse on the phone said something like 1 in 17 chance the baby has it. Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve read there’s false positives but I’m mentally preparing for the worst. We’ve already experienced a miscarriage in the past and pray this baby will be ok! Thanks in advance for any knowledge you can give me!
** edited to add. I’m 12 weeks and have had two ultrasounds already. 7 weeks and 10 weeks. Both were perfect with 170 heartbeat and baby size and growing on schedule. They also told me the test couldn’t determine gender because the DNA fluid was too low?
************* UPDATE!! *************
I was referred to a high risk doctor for an ultrasound. He took one look at the monitor and asked me “what are you here for again?” I replied with my positive tests. He came over and took my hand and said “I can’t think of anything worse to have done to someone’s mental health. That baby, is perfect.” He said as far as he’s concerned, he doesn’t need to see or do anything more. But he encouraged me for my own sanity to retest through a different company. I agreed. Test came back NEGATIVE! Instead of a 1 in 17 chance, it said 1 in 10,000 chance! Both the high risk doctor and my normal doctor said I received a false positive. They’re rare, but they do happen! I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy! I will give a final update once he’s born also!
