Are you an "essential employee"?

I am just curious who on here is am essential employee or whose significant other is. I am taking the year off from teaching (thank goodness!) But my husband is a grocery store manager and is working nonstop!

In all seriousness, my husband is. His employer had an exempt letter from congress before shit even hit the fan.

We are both essential services but I’m on maternity leave until the end of June so we thankfully don’t have to worry about childcare yet!

We both are technically, but I'm a teacher so I am working from home. My husband works for the power company in NYC doing services so he goes to work every day. The Grandmas were watching the baby when i went back to work but now we are trying to keep them home so I am trying to teach online with an 8 month old who only takes 20 minute maps. We are super worried that my husband is going to get sick/bring the virus home. I also recently found out I'm pregnant so that brings even more fear

Me and my partner are both key workers both within the NHS. I'm nurse and he works within logistics. I dont go back to work until May but as this month is A/L oi may get called back early.

Bank employee... we are essential but I’m annoyed. While I’m expected in the building, everyone has been told to work from home. Only about 5 from our 60 person dept are expected to come in. Thats fine. BUT why are the older women in the building working (a good dozen of them) when they are supposed to be working from home?! It “slows down their production” to work from home. Total BS. Really is irritating because they aren’t supposed to be in the building. I’ve told my manager they aren’t complying but I doubt anything will get done.

I work for a bank so we’re essential but so glad we have limited hours. We’re also fortunate that the reduced our hours and I’m only working 30 hours a week. We’re only open 5 hours a day Monday to Friday and 3 hours on Saturday right now. We’re also limiting the number of people in the branches at a time and all teller transactions go to the drive up.

Technically we both are but I’ve worked from home since our baby was born. I do worry with him working at a hospital of bringing something home to us but just doing our best to be safe.

Im also a teacher from the U.K. so I’m considered a key worker (not at work though as I’m also taking the year off). Hubby is military so he’s a key worker, too.
