Very short strings

Has anyone had their strings cut so short that you cant feel them? Do you do anything differently for maintenance, as in making sure its still in place?

My doctor trimmed them flush against my cervix after i told him that they were bothering my SO.

I forgot to ask how im supposed to check it now. I know placement can be checked with an ultrasound but im hoping thats not the only way. Has anyone been given any special instructions after getting the strings cut short?
