Nighttime diaper changes?

I made a post a couple days ago talking about how my 3 week old will sleep on his own where ever perfectly all day and night UNTIL 3AM. Then he has to sleep in our bed- he refuses anything else.

He isnt nursing the whole time or anything he just refuses to be put down after that change and feed and I couldnt figure it out.

I know we are still in survival mode being so early on in his life- but I think I realized he is just staying awake from the diaper change. (I only change him at 3AM feed bc i hear him pass gas when he wakes to eat) would it be so bad to keep him slathered in diaper cream and just... not change him until a little later?

I’m a STM but my daughter never had this issue. She would fall back asleep if I fed her after the diaper change but this boy will stay awake for like 1.5 hours unless in our bed.
