Birthing bill with private insurance- how much was your birth?

So I’m curious. Mommas who’ve had babies before at the hospital or moms who’ve already had their babies premature with private insurance. Can you tell me how much your birth was billed to insurance for? I have blue cross blue shield 90-10 plan which is pretty good but I’m so nervous about what the bill is going to look like. My friends bill was $29,000 she just got it in the mail for her baby from October but she has military so her balance due wasn’t much at all. I can’t seem to find any women who’ve had babies and had to pay for them with private insurance. How much were you billed and what did you have to pay? TYIA

It depends on your health insurance. You’ll be responsible for your deductible and co-pays (if applicable). Your Summary or Benefits that you get each year with your plan info has an example at the end showing an estimate of costs for a normal vaginal delivery. 
Best thing to do is call your provider and ask. They will be able to tell you what you’ll be responsible for.

I just preregistered and got a call that the projected will be $1100 but I know that will go up dramatically with things like epidural and especially if I end up needing a CS.

For all appointments and vaginal delivery it will cost me $408 and is due by my 24th week of pregnancy with my plan. So I am really hoping nothing goes wrong to where I have to have a c section because it’ll cost a lot more

The total bill was about 40 grand. Pur responsibility was the out of pocket max of 9000.

My bill was right around $28000. My insurance covered $12000 and my husbands covered $14000. So we have about $2000 to pay out of pocket. But we just set up a payment plan.

You have to pay your deductible first if you have one,  plus the 10% of the bill, and you won't pay more than your out of pocket max for the year so check that as well. With my vaginal births, the anesthesia  (epidural) added quite a bit to the bill. It was worth it, but if you feel like you can labor without it and your out of pocket max for the year is high, you may want to not get it. I personally wanted my birth to be more peaceful so the extra cost was worth it, but it cost more than I expected.

Through my insurance we owed about $3500 after labor and delivery my last pregnancy.

My actual c section was 27,000. My labor was 9,000. My daughters portion was 7500. I’m doing a payment plan through my hospital bc my portion is still 9k with my bcbs of South Carolina.
