How to say no?

With the holidays coming up we will be attending a lot of family functions. This Sunday (11/8) we will be going to a Thanksgiving dinner/family reunion. I'm a first  time mom and our son (7 weeks) will be the only baby there so I'm sure he'll be getting a lot of attention. I don't want him to be passed around as that happened at Halloween and he became very overwhelmed/overstimulated and anxious. Do any of you have any suggestions on a nice way to say "no, you can't hold my baby"? I don't want to come across as rude, but I don't want him passed around like a hot potato either!

Tell them he hasn't been feeling well and the doctor recommended he not be passed around or he could get sick :)

Wear your baby in a carrier.

Try keeping the sessions with other people short. Take him into a quiet Place with just the two of you so he can calm down and just relax. If he's sleepy throw him in the carrier and tell them he needs a rest. Sometimes you have to be a little abrasive for people to get the hint. I had to do this with my MIL recently because she wanted to hold my daughter while she was sick and I had to be like ummmm no?

My daughter currently has a cold so I've been home with her and have warned people that she is sick so no one touches her. I also wear her in a carrier and I give off a don't invade my personal space vibe lol.

I know this may not be the popular response but why can't family hold your baby? They are only this little for a short time. Unless they are sick or have a cold what's the harm in letting someone hold them for ten minutes.
