First pap

Tomorrow I'm getting my first Pap smear and I'm so nervous. Although they now say you don't need one until you're 24 (I'm 18) but my mom had cervical cancer when I was born and even though there's a really low chance of me having it, I still want to be sure do that my boyfriend and I can have kids after college. Any advice on what to do before hand? I know some people spray purfume but that doesn't seem safe...
