Barista during coronavirus
I know a lot of people disagree with restaurants still being open and I completely understand. I work at a small cafe/restaurant. I was out of work for about two weeks and then I started back after the owners applied for a loan to be able to do payroll. However the community I work in is so tight knit it’s crazy how many orders we are still getting for takeout, delivery, and curbside. Thankfully our older customers haven’t been coming but I still think about the regulars and miss them. My hours were cut extremely which was expected so I filed unemployment for reduced hours. But oh my goodness the support we get from customers is crazy! They have been tipping anywhere from $50-100 for simple orders like a frappe, I’ve been on the verge of tears several times from their generosity. I’m only 19 and the only major bill I have is a car payment and insurance but to carry $110 cash tip home is such a huge blessing. I thank everyone who supports their local businesses during this time if they feel comfortable to do so, you guys keep us up and running because things like this can shut down a small business permanently!
