Boy name Theo - opinions?

Question

How do you feel about this name? I like the short version of it and I would prefer to use just Theo rather than Theodore but I’m not sure if it’s ok to use just the short version. I worry I might be criticized for this decision. 
Is Theo a name that sounds nice for a child, an adult and an old man as well? Does it sound nice for a student, a lawyer, an accountant, an artist? I can’t know what he’ll become in life, but I want to make sure the name doesn’t sound too childish. 
Maybe I’m overthinking but I would like to hear your opinions.

Theodore is our top choice as well. My husband has said he prefers Theo also but I prefer the full Theodore. I figure Theo will be a nick name. Middle name is Joseph so he could also be TJ which I think is cute!!

Theodore is pretty much our choice for boy name! 
Theo is great for a child and young man, but I'd keep it as Theodore because it's more versatile and you can use a shortened version as nickname but it doesn't quite work in the other direction.
I understand that it sounds a bit silly when you think of a little baby or an energetic child, but our babies won't stay that way forever.

We are also considering Theo (and Leo) for our baby boy. So I am probably partial.
But, for us, it's important that the name is international (we are French speaking but evolving in a multicultural environment which uses English as common language) and be easy on the ear at any age. 
I had a female friend called Pêche (Peach in French) which was cute when she was a kid, less so when she became a big shot CEO...

It's nice to see parents trying to think of how the name will impact their child through all stages of life. I personally prefer giving full options with a full sounding name rather than a nickname. I would go with Theodore (or Theodorus) and just use the nickname.

I went to school with a Theo. He was a super sweet guy. Always kind to everyone. I like the name better than Theodore actually

I am all for naming baby what you’ll actually let them be called. I had a kid in class named RJ. Mom said he didn’t even know (at 10 years old) that his real name was Ronald because they never called him that.

I love Theo. We had been trying for so long and finally gave up and I got 2 puppies (litter mates) and named the boy Theo and then found out I was pregnant about a week later. I genuinely considered changing the dogs name but my son was already attached to calling the dog it 🤣

I have a Theo. I was the same and didn’t care for Theodore so we went with just Theo and it was the best decision. Go with what you love momma
