Worried about 1yo talking..

1st time mom here so I’m still learning what’s “normal” as far as babies go. My little one just turned 1 at the end of March and I’m concerned about her speech/language.

She started babbling at around 4 months and did so for a couple of weeks, then stopped babbling completely until she was 7 1/2 months. Her pediatrician didn’t seem concerned because she had started babbling again. When it came time to start saying “Mama” and “dada” independently outside of babbling, it took her a long time to do that as well.

She has said banana once at 10 months old, it came out “banama”. She has literally never said it again. She’s recently stopped saying mama as well. The only time she’s willing to say Mama anymore is if she’s really distressed by something and she can’t see me. So those instances are few and far between.

She’s not picking up on any other words. When we ask her to say words (mama, up, baba, ball, bye, night night, etc) she gets very upset and screams while kicking and wringing her hands.

She doesn’t even want to try.

We read to her daily, sing to her, make sure we tell her the names of everything she plays with or we hand to her trying to help her language develop but it seems like she’s just going backwards.

We know she understands us, she’ll wave “bye bye” or “night night”. She can shake her head no or nod for yes. She plays patty cake and “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands”. She’s meeting all her other milestones otherwise. My husband isn’t concerned about this, but I really am. We had to reschedule her 1 year visit because of Covid, and I was planning on bringing it up to her pediatrician.

Both my husband and I were using several words when we were her age, but we know every baby is different.

Am I being overly concerned about this, or is this something I legitimately need to bring up to her pediatrician?
