Did a pap smear cause miscarriage?

There's a lot of mixed answers on this subject and I'm kind of worried to have one done at my first ob appointment. I've had a miscarriage before and don't have a history of abnormal pap smears. Should I at least wait until the second trimester to have one done? Please share your experience.

Pap smears do not cause miscarriage. Thats not to say that people who have a Pap smear won’t have a miscarriage but it’s not causative

I dont know if it was just poor timing or if the dr was too rough but I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks after one of my paps

I know they don’t cause them. But I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks after I had a Pap. And my illogical brain just linked the two. This pregnancy, my midwife was fine with waiting until after my baby was born for my own mental health

Pap smears dont cause miscarriages. All 6 of my miscarriages i didnt have a pap smear during the time i was pregnant. Papsmears do NOT cause miscarriages

I had a miscarriage before I had my successful pregnancy and I was apprehensive about getting a Pap smear at my first OB appt when I was 6 weeks. I decided to wait until after I wasn’t pregnant anymore to have one cause to me it is not necessary to have one while I’m pregnant. I also had a high risk pregnancy and bled almost my entire first trimester so I’m glad I didn’t. It is completely up to you and your preference though 😊

I had my first baby doc appt and they just went ahead and did one since I was due for one. It shouldn't cause any issues! I'm 8 weeks 4 days

I'm not due for mine until June and my OB still did it early with my blood work at 12 weeks. No issues in either pregnancy with the pap during the 1st trimester though☺️

They don't cause miscarriages, that being said, both pregnancies I had a pap in the second trimester.

I was a a day shy of 10w when I had my appointment and Pap smear and I am fine (now 13w4d) I had some very very light spotting the night after and next day and light cramping but nothing unbearable. She had warned me I may spot since the cervix is more sensitive.
