IUD moved?

I got the Paragard inserted 5 weeks ago and today was my follow up appointment. Apparently it shifted down and is 13 mm away from the top of my uterus where it should be. They want me to come back in another 6-8 weeks to see if it goes back into place. If not I can either:

keep using condoms and at that point there is no reason to keep the iud

Or

Have it removed and re-inserted

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I’m not thrilled with having to go through the procedure again and the pill is no longer an option for me.
