Hi my name is jazzy and I am 12 years old turning 13 and yes I know I am young but I got my period a few days ago and when I get my period I last 7 days but my period has stopped 2 days ago and it has only been day 3. So I need help on what is going on because this has not happened to me before, and i would love it if someone explained this to me because I have no girl in my house just by dad and stepdad and they dont know anything about period stuff so help me please :)

Just to give you a heads up, you might also experience period on and off, especially your first year or two with your period.. so no need to be alarmed if you skip one or two cycles! 😉

Sometimes I'll have a short period with some spotting after a few days.  Not to sound too gross but sometimes the blood can 'pool' inside so instead of a heavy flow you get broken up flows.

When I first started getting my period, I didn’t have a consistent cycle. I’d get it one month, then not get it for 2 months. Some months I’d have it for a week then the next I’d have it for 3 days. 
Now I get it right when I’m supposed to and  it lasts about the same each month. I could be wrong, but I think the first year/ year and a half, your body is like adjusting to it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Stress, dieting, weight loss, sickness or extreme exercise can cause your period to be lighter or irregular. Probably no need to worry 😉

When I first got my period it wasn’t regular at all they would happen every couple of months and the amount of days would be different. It’s perfectly normal don’t stress 💕

You’re still very young so your body could just be irregular. Diet and stress can also change things. If you started exercising more that could also have an effect.

For about the first 2 years your period will be irregular. I got mine at 12 almost 13 and it didn’t regulate until 15. I had a super consistent cycle then I started having sex and it changed the timing of my period but it’s regular once again. Just a heads up for the future since you don’t have a girly to tell you, sex changes your hormone levels and it can change your cycle a bit. Nothing to worry about when that happens or if you’re having inconsistent ones now.

I've had my period since I was 12 and it only got normal over the last year or two and I'm 18 now. So don't worry if it's off and changes up. It's totally normal. Can be a bit scary and frustrating. But everyone's takes time to become consistent. Hormones definitely affect it and diet can affect it too.

Consider yourself lucky. I'm nearing 30, but in my teens (and mind you, I started my period at 10) mine were 7-10 days every month.
Because you're still young and new to puberty, your body is still trying to regulate your hormones. It's normal for your periods to fluctuate during this time.
