What was the worst part of your c-section?

Please share your experiences! I’m having my first c-section and I have hardly any input on what to really expect. 
I want to know what the most challenging aspects are so I can prepare.

No one ever mentioned the uncontrollable shaking that can occur during the actual surgery part. They told me it’s completely normal but my arms just shook the entire time and my teeth chattered. My husband had to help hold me still and the nurse at my head also helped hold me down to help me feel more in control. It last like an hour hour and half and I just don’t like not feeling in control of my body. Though being numb from chest down didn’t bother me lol. The pain is bad, but I was expecting that so it wasn’t the worst part. I will say showering for the first time in recovery was awful. Use a shower chair if you can, my hospital didn’t have one and after standing for barely 2 minutes I got light headed and needed to sit so the nurse let me use one of my room chairs so I could wash my hair and finish feeling clean. Personally i didn’t mind the overall c section experience as long as you have expectations and also set goals for your self. stay on top of pain meds for the first few days, tell yourself you’re going to get out of bed every 3 hours even to just go to the bathroom but the faster you get moving the better you’ll feel.

The gas pain that traveled up to my collarbone was terrible and I wasn’t prepared for it at all. I knew my abdomen would hurt so that wasn’t a huge deal. But when it hit my collarbone I thought I was dying. The catheter was also terrible. I had mine in for two days and only got it removed when I sort of yelled at a nurse who pulled on it and made me scream in pain.

First few hours after surgery up until about 6 ish weeks after ☹️ we had lived in an upstairs apt and each time I’d go up the stairs it felt like it would rip open

The worst thing was coming home & not having a bed that’s upright. Coughing, twisting, sneezing, bending down to go toilet. The little things I swear.
& not being able to wax 🤦🏻

The shaking was pretty bad, like someone mentioned. Laughing or sneezing hurts like a B. But, for me, it was the constipation! Jeez, that first trying to go...

I had a super positive experience with mine! The part that took me off guard though is feeling the pressure of what they’re doing. The pushing and tugging of them taking her out was a wild feeling. The first couple days are pretty rough but it gets easier every day! By the 2 week point I was totally fine by myself around the house. (Obviously not doing anything strenuous) but I had no problem cooking & cleaning up after myself. I didn’t find daytime difficult because she was my first baby so I could sit on the couch all day and not have to do much, I think it would be SO hard with toddlers. But night time was hard for a while, getting up from laying down is much harder than getting up from sitting. I thought I ripped everything open one night because I thought maybe getting into all fours (like table top yoga position) might be easier... no. I was wrong. Don’t do that.

Not being able to pull my dang pants up on my own from standing. I almost cried when I had to call for my husband to come help me put my shorts on. Which, in hindsight was super minor but mine was unplanned so I just wasn't prepared for that kind of thing. 
Also, not being able to get up for 24 hours afterwards because of my spinal block wearing off. I hate sitting still, and I felt useless because I couldn't even get my baby out of her bassinet until I could walk because it was too tall for me from the hospital bed. 
End game? You're going to have a baby, you just might have a few inconveniences along the way. It'll be okay Mama.

I’ve had 2 csections and both of them were super smooth/easy. I had very fast recoveries that were painless. With my oldest I didn’t take any kind of pain meds, not even while I was in the hospital. With my 2nd I only took 800mg ibuprofen 1x a day for 5-6 days. I was back to my normal self within a week of both my csections. 
I will add I have a pretty high pain tolerance and I’ve been very lucky when it comes to surgeries and recovery. I’m having my 3rd csection on May 6th and I’m hoping it goes as well as my first 2!!
My advice to you is to get up as soon as they let you, walk and move around as much as possible. The more you move and get up the better. When you just sit around it causes you to stiffen up and can cause more pain. Also, if you need to take the pain meds, than take the pain meds. Don’t try and be a hero!!

Laughing or coughing, sneezing....omg the worst!!! Put pressure on your incision when you do those and it helps but wow does it ever hurt!

My c section wasn’t that bad either. Yes I was a little sore and yes it was a few hours before I could walk but I agree that the uncontrollable shaking was the worst, followed by puking a few times about 4 hours after surgery from the anesthesia.
