Can I borrow money/withdrawal from life insurance?

I'm at my witts end with this corona virus stuff and I want to help my family. I luckily still have a job. My employer has offered me a company paid life insurance policy of only 25,000 cash. Is is possible to withdrawal money from a company paid life insurance policy?

I don’t think so. I know you can take from a retirement fund though there’s fees with that. But life insurance is supposed to help your family when you pass so I don’t see how you’d be able to access that money.

Also a base policy that a company offers you that you don’t pay into I can almost guarantee will not let you borrow money. A heftier policy that you pay into may, but I spoke to a life insurance person recently, and I didn’t realize you could even do that (take money out before you died) but he made it clear that my company’s base policy that I had that they gave to me for “free” would not qualify for that.

You can on certain policies but 
1. You have to have it for a certain set time
2. There are penalties/fees
3. You have to meet the premium

A quick google search says in certain circumstances, but each policy is different so you would need to check with them. Usually the premium (payment of said policy) needs to have been met for a certain period of time before doing so. Most likely won’t be able to if you’re just now getting the policy.

You’d have to call and ask. But I wouldn’t touch it if possible. There are often times penalties that wouldn’t be worth it.

I was able to withdraw money from my life insurance policy but only after I switched jobs. I know there is penalties on next years tax return. I would contact the insurance policy
