Heavy bleeding during sex ?

Had a period on April 19.. lasted two days. My man and I had sex on the 21st because I had stopped bleeding. Common for me to have short periods. Anyway a whole week goes by and we have sex again. During sex I feel something.. I look down and the bed is drenched in blood. Dark purple maroon thin blood . Not only was he horrified but I immediately ran to the bathroom to vomit with cold chills and sweating. It was not a period at all. I am actually about to ovulate according to GLOW. What could this bed ? Never happened before.
