Any tips to prevent mastitis while breastfeeding?

Every time I try to breastfeed my kids right in the beginning when my milk starts coming in I always end up having mastitis. Anyone have any tips to prevent this? What am I doing wrong that causes me to have  this?  I hate having that fever and chills

i was topless for months and never got it. Refrain from wearing tight bras and always have clean hands

Maybe not emptying the boob fully you might be swapping too soon, my boobs get so full i have an over supply that i have to feed on one each time to make sure its fully empty i cant swap mid feed. It works for me the other one waits and gets used next time. But mastitis is a build up of old milk that goes bad so its leaving milk in a boob and not emptying it fully. If babe has had enough and cant drink your full boob you need to exresss it out xx
