Vacation after baby?

Question

How soon after having your baby did you go on a vacation? I'm nowhere near my due date yet but my mom and I were talking today and she said she couldn't wait until my husband and I  went on our first vacation so she could have the baby for a whole week. I hadn't really thought about it until she said something so I'm just curious what other people have done. I plan on breastfeeding for at least 6 months so I imagine even with pumping I won't be able to go far for a while.

For me, I never felt right being away from my babies. When we went away we went as a family instead.
The first time my husband and I were away just the two of us was only a year or so ago. Our kids were 10, 8, 5, 5. It never felt right to leave them before then. 
Obviously they had each had sleep-overs with family and close friends before that, but not all at the same time, and only for one night at a time.

I honestly wouldn't book a trip away until you're ready to actually go. It would just be too much needless stress and pressure if you're not ready!!! Tell your mum that you'll take her up on her lovely offer when the time is right. 
And if you are still breastfeeding when you go you'd have to be pumping often - might as well take your baby! Haha!

When my first daughter was born it's was a little bit before our wedding anniversary. She was born oct our anniversary was in December. We left for the wknd my mom watched her

I'm planning a trip with my mom for a month after I deliver. there is no right answer. see how you feel after baby is born and if you have a sitter , enjoy a vacation if that's what you want

It's all up to you and how you are feeling. My daughter will be 15 months old on the 17th and I have not spent one night away from her. The idea of being away from her overnight is not even fathomable to me right now. I am also 30 weeks pregnant with b/g twins so I do not think I will be spending any nights away from my kids in a long time! 
But I have friends who have went on vacation or left their baby with parents, in-laws, or close friends when their babies were under a year. I think it all depends on how you feel as a parent and how comfortable you are with leaving your baby overnight. I say, no matter what age, if you are feeling up to it then go for it!
