What would you do

Question

Please be considerate in your responses— this is coming from a very anxious mom. 
I just received information from my baby’s daycare stating that a parent of a child at the center has tested positive for covid19. Starting tomorrow they will be checking temps of all children and staff at the door and drop off will be in the lobby only. Anyone with a temp over 100 will not be allowed to daycare for 72 hours after they are fever free. 
I am working on finding out if the parent is a parent of a child in my sons class or not. 
My husband is a first responder and I work at a hospital on a psychiatric unit so we know we have the chance for exposure but have not come in contact with anyone who is a known positive— therefore I am now overly anxious even more than before. 
Would you keep your kid home or send them?

It depends on how you and your husband view this as the field you guys are in. For example I’m a nurse and I know I can be exposed at any moment and I also know that anyone can be positive just because they aren’t tested doesn’t mean a thing. I would keep sending my baby. Obviously knowing that someone is for sure positive is scary but those are the risk you take no offensive but having a baby around other people. Like they say you should always awesome someone is positive!

I would send them as long as your child is healthy. This virus has been around for months before we were were “staying at home” and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Our children could have been exposed already and will certainly be exposed to it in the future.

Where do you live if you don’t mind me asking? Daycares aren’t even open where I am. 
I wouldn’t worry as much about your little one being exposed, but it’s more of if they become a carrier, who could they infect that would become very sick. Like grandparents or someone with a health impairment

So, to the people saying it doesn't matter because we're all going to get it anyway, it does matter because the longer we go without getting it, the more the medical professionals treating us will know how to keep us from having serious complications and keep us healthy, so yes it does matter. 
That being said, if you don't have any other options, then you don't have any other options. If I were you I probably would try to wait until you find out if the parent related to your baby's class but if you can't wait, it's probably fine, mostly because I'm assuming your baby is in a class with other babies who are probably not getting all that much up in each other's business at this point, and I'm sure the child care people are being very careful. Plus, I'm assuming the child care center isn't having the child with the covid positive parent coming into the center for probably at least two weeks or whatever, so you'd only have to be concerned about transmission from other kids who had interactions with the kid who MIGHT have been contagious, it's a lot of steps to get to your baby.

I’d send but my hubby is a first responder and has had multiple known exposures. Although he is in ppe we still understand it’s a chance he could bring it from work just as easy as I could from running in the grocery store. Sounds like they’re taking precautions. This virus will be around awhile so we can’t isolate forever.
