Baby allergy

So we recently found out that our son (5 months) has a cow milk protein allergy. We thought it was colic because he was often inconsolable but then he started to get very itchy to where he would not stop clawing at his face . Then he developed a lot of eczema on his face mostly and then hives all over his back. That's when we took him in and found out he was allergic to the protein being passed through my breastmilk in the cow milk . I wanted to nurse at least for the full year so I decided to fully cut out the dairy. This diet is so so challenging but i know it will be worth it. Just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone elses baby and what were good substitutes for dairy items that actually taste decent.?? Will appreciate any tips/advice ! TIA
