How to Discipline a 9 month old

I only mean gentle discipline. I don’t mean spanking or anything like that so don’t think I’m mean... But my baby is out of control with his little hands. He pulls my face like I’m a Mr. potato head and it drives me crazy 😥 he scratches, pinches, pulls, and slaps everything on my head and face. I’m just so so so so tired of it. I know all babies do this, so I’m asking for advice please. At first I will calmly move his hand and say “that hurts mommy please stop” the first few times. Eventually I will just turn my head away and ignore him. Then he will keep going so then I will lose my patience and be stern and say “stop.” And then he will literally whine and crawl on me and I will get mad...

I don’t like to get mad at my own little baby but it’s so frustrating. When does this behavior stop? How can I ensure that he listens? I know it’s my job to teach him and I just want to be successful without being mean to him 😕
