Thoughts on having a baby shower??

This is my first pregnancy and I was really looking forward to having a baby shower, but covid-19 is making things pretty difficult. I live in SC and everything has opened back up, I was thinking maybe it would be fine to just have it outside at a park or something like that. My MIL suggested a virtual shower, but I don’t really understand the concept of it. Feel free to comment any suggestions, thoughts, or alternatives.
