Detergent

I've been using the detergent that says it's for babies for my newborn son, but doing the separate load gets to be a hassle especially when his clothes being so small are never near a full load when I need to do them. Can I use the regular laundry detergent for him? I assume the baby detergent is supposed to be more sensitive, but both seem to have similar ingrediants including scent.
