Insulting to the culture?

Hi CC fam, I'm posting this because 1. I trust y'all's opinion and 2. The response I got from a friend led me to believe this may be controversial or inappropriate.
I work in healthcare, non essential, so I've been home but I may be returning soon.
I have a lot of hair and our boss mentioned wearing scrub cabs or cotton head coverings. A coworker (POC) brought up the idea of wearing headwraps and bought a couple to show us. 
Because glow is difficult and won't let me upload photos, I've attached a gif of something similar my coworker found online.

Now, I'm Latina, so I can appreciate the feeling of cultural appropriation, but I mentioned this to a different friend of mine who is black and she actually went off on me about it.
Soooooooo. Weigh in, CC fam and tell me what you think!
Would it be appropriate for someone who is Caucasian, Latina, Asian, etc, to wear this to work in healthcare?
Edit to say: the ones we were looking at did not have the same knot in the front styling and weren't quite turban tall, just a close to the head scarf essentially. I wish glow would let me upload photos 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think there’s a deadly virus spreading and your friend needs to get off her high horse. 
On a side note Outside of the safety concerns of this virus I feel no one fashion, hairstyle, language etc is OWNED solely by one ethnicity. 
If a white girl wants to wear dreads or hair wrap go ahead. 
I’m white and wear a head wrap to sleep every night cause I’m not stupid. It’s best for my hair. 
Saying it’s for one ethnicity is about as stupid as a white persona telling a black girl she can’t name her daughter Katie without putting an isha at the end. 
I would hope that after this pandemic that racism stops and we all start having a little more compassion for every single race. 
Wtf cares and I wouldn’t be friends with a person that is racist either.

I wouldn’t call it insulting or cultural appropriation unless you were actively mimicking another culture... which you’re clearly not. Nobody has a patent on wearing head wraps. Especially if your boss brought up that you should for work. I’m also white and don’t celebrate any cultural things like German it Irish heritage so my opinion could be different than somebody that does.

I don’t have an issue, like someone else posted, with admiring certain items and incorporating them into your own life. I’m also white and middle class, so I’m sure I’m wrong, but 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
It’s apparently fine for medical institutions to leave it to the public donation of homemade masks to protect their workers, so honesty, at this point in time, anything goes. These also look like they cover hair better than a scrub cap might, and I have to assume that if hospitals don’t have enough supply of gowns, they probably don’t have bouffant caps either.

I’d think of it more as a compliment. Someone likes something from another culture or finds use in something from another culture, so they use it in their own lives. 
But I’m a middle class white person so... take my comment as you will.

Anyone can wear whatever as long as they are respectful of the history and aren’t doing it to mock that culture..those are my beliefs anyway.

Ok so in my perfectly white opinion, I think that since you’ll be dealing with patients and not just coworkers in an office, it could be viewed as poor taste by some who share the opinion of your friend. I think that something similar would be fine, but if you directly copied the patterns/styles/etc than it might be considered “bad”.

Honestly, I dont really care. 
Im majority Latina, (white passing for the most part) however I do have South African in my blood (my moms creole, native, and French). So I have very textured, very curly hair. More so than my mother because of the Latin heritage as well. over time I have found that “typical” WOC hair regiments really work for my hair. That includes but is not limited to; silk head wraps, protective styles (mainly plats and boxer braids) , and products. all thanks to my WOC friends & friends mothers that saw my mom struggling with my upkeep and by the grace of god stepped in to help. 
That being said, I urge those who instantly judge people wearing what you consider “culturally appropriated attire” to ask yourself this before jumping to conclusions. : 
Do u know this person? 
Do u know how they were raised?
Do u know the “culture” in which they grew up? 
Have they exhibited to your knowledge any type of stereotypical racist or prejudice thoughts about POC hairstyle? 
If you can not answer these without any doubt or second thought in your mind I urge u to create unbiased and informative (if needed) dialect with this person before casting any type of judgement or creating an issue for them. I urge u to have enough evidence to back your claim w/o judging someone based on if their “enough” of one race or have Poor/misinformed intent to use said products or textiles
