Is this normal?

So I have been on a birth control for a year now (forgot the name) and it’s the pill you take for 3 months then stop for a week have a small period then start them back up. Well today is the first day this has ever happened in my year of taking it a week before my period starts I started getting super sore boobs which I never get and I started getting brown spotting and mucus discharge. I wanted to see if I get my period first before taking a test. Has this happen to anyone?? And I do take my pills every single day and haven’t missed one. 😬
