If you firmly believe in something does other opinions make you reconsider that belief?

I’m not one who is Easily swayed. I am
Open to education and insight beyond what IM familiar with, but I’m pretty FIRM in my decisions.  It seems like people get REALLY offended when others refuse to budge in their beliefs and morals. Has anyone ever made you rethink things you have stood by? Just curious

I’d like to think I’m pretty open minded, I’m always trying to do better and be better. I don’t want to be the kind of person that gets stuck in their ways and refuses to listen to other perspectives.
However, there are definitely certain views I have that will not change.

Yeah, all the time. I’ve had problematic views in the past and I listened, learned, and now teach.

I am happy to hear someone out about any number of things, but there are certain things I stand firm on and nobody will ever change my mind. For example, women’s health care choices are hers and hers alone, and black live matter. Nobody is changing my stance on those. Ever.

I think it depends. There is absolutely a difference between opinions/beliefs and morals. 
There is always room for change in any aspect and it’s best to keep an open mind.

Yes. I used to have a bias towards mexican women. I grew up in a predominantly mexican area and the mexican girls were brutal to me in middle school and I carried that with me until my 20s until I started to see that it was wrong for me to blame an entire group of people because of a few peoples actions, now I have Mexican/hispanic/Latina friends who I wouldn't trade for the world and I'm so grateful I was able to change my thinking. I also have changed my beliefs on the death penalty and abortion over the years of my life when I started to have more empathy for others. I think its totally healthy to stay open minded to change. That's the only way we can evolve.

I think a person's inability to change or reconsider their own opinions seriously in the face of another legitimate opinion shows an lack of maturity and self awareness. Take the white supremacists for example. They refuse to listen or even CONSIDER a different point of view. Absolutely closed to it. They will always be stuck in that circle of hate as long as they stay where they are comfortable. Growth means sometimes having to evolve your own thinking and opinions and re examining what your morals are based on and wether it's time for a change.

Im pretty solid in my morals and beliefs but I have no issue being corrected if someone comes to me with a solid argument that makes sense. I definitely don't think Im always right.

Rarely. I usually stick to my beliefs and opinions, but if I find new information, or become even more open minded, I just might. But I have some beliefs that I refuse to change.

Yes, if they have evidence other than "this one chick told me", "the bible says", or "I saw this online somewhere". I'm always open to learning something new.

I’m open minded but when I state my beliefs I often get called horrible names. A respectful and kind conversation, yes I’ll listen and maybe even change my mind. But when I get attacked for it then I stop listening.
