Wondering if I should announce the name or not?

I know it sounds cliche, but I’d really be upset if someone else used the name we are. I know about 7 women right now that are all having boys. Two are due before me, the rest a little after. I’d love to announce so our friends and family know, but I’d hate for anyone to like it & take it. Do you think it’s better to announce so people know it’s what we want to use & decrease the chances of them using it?

Actually no one owns a name so people can pick what they want. So many people now are more into coming up with different spellings for a particular name to make it different. There's millions of people on earth so I'm sure you won't be the only person whose picked the name just cause it may not be popular or heard of in your area. Eventually others will know. If you don't feel comfortable then just don't announce it.

I don’t see the harm I’ve always put Ava in all my announcements or posts. I’m due in July and everyone calls her by her name now

We always reveal the name at the gender reveal (we reveal it to everyone else after finding out at the scan). From then on, that name is what refer to and it would be VERY obvious if someone suddenly decided to use it for their child. I’d use the name still either way but this way it makes them look kind of shady. Plus, having the name out there helps me bond more and we are only 15 weeks and already referring to the baby interchangeably by both names we have when talking about it together.

If you aren't worried about people's opinions about the name I would. 
Like the ladies said no one owns a name but I don't think anyone would use it if they know you're set on it

I plan to keep all name ideas to myself because I don’t want to hear any negativity about my choices. And even if you do announce, that doesn’t mean someone else won’t use the name, so, unless you just really want people to know, it doesn’t seem like there’s a benefit to telling.
