Praying 🙏

I am currently 8 days late. I have been late before but only 4 days it doesn’t happen every cycle it happens every 4 to 5 months. I read to take a test after a week after miss period. I took on couple of days ago because I was inpatient sadly it was negative. Does it mean I am not pregnant or do I wait to take another one? We have been trying for 3 years and 4 months now and we want a miracle. Please let me know if I shouldn’t wait or how long did it take for a positive after a missed period! Thank you
