Going by middle name?

Is it weird to name a kid your own name or your husband's name and call them by their middle name? Any of you out there named after a parent and have any thoughts?

I’m called by my middle name and it’s the worst. Especially growing up I was so shy and hated having to tell teachers, coaches, etc that yes my name is Natalie but I’m called Brooke. Then i became a nurse and guess which name is on your nursing license? The first one. So my name badge at all of my nursing jobs have always said Natalie. So when I went to get married I fully intended to drop my first name for good and legally go by Brooke Maiden Name Married Name. Well guess which one you can’t legally drop. The first one. Maybe it’s just me but it does not seem worth it to call your child by their middle name just because of the flow.

I don’t think it’s “weird,” but if you’re going to do that why not just name them the name you intend to call them, and make your name/your husband’s name the middle name?

I named my son after my brother Christopher Mason  and we call him Mason I just didn’t like the way Mason Christopher sounds

My husband and both brother in laws go by their middle names lol I think it’s strange!

My husband’s name is John Robert but he goes by Robert and my sons name is Jonathan Brayden but he goes by Brayden... the only thing confusing is when we’re at the dentist and they call back Jonathan I just sit there and my son says mom that’s me😂

I go by my middle name. My great grandma was Velma and my aunt is Kay. My parents didn't want to call me Velma and the name Kay Velma didn't flow nicely, so they chose Velma Kay and I go by Kay. 
It's occasionally annoying, but I love being named after my great grandma, so it's worth it!
