When did you start preparing freezer meals?

With my last pregnancy I didn’t do any prep for dinners and I really regretted it. My mom did visit for two weeks after I gave birth and helped out but this time around we won’t have anyone because of the pandemic. I have found a few freezer meals to prepare in advance that will be perfect for once baby arrives but i don’t want to make them too soon. I’m currently 34 weeks. I’m thinking when I get to 36 weeks? I had my first at 38 weeks. Ugh, why does labor have to be so unpredictable lol

My husband cooks really well so it’s gonna be 100% on him and take out 😂 I don’t have enough freezer space to prep meals unfortunately

I’ve actually already gotten started as of 33.5 weeks, and I’m glad that I did because I wound up being put on bed rest a couple weeks later, so now at least the stage is set for my husband to easily finish up the rest. Also, prepping can be time-consuming, and you never know if the baby will come early. Freezer meals will stay good for a few months, so you’ve got nothing to lose.

So since we can’t really have showers or are having small ones, when people ask if they can send something I’ve been asking if they would like to drop off a freezer meal next month! I still plan on doing some myself as well but this way I’m not in my feet all day cooking and I’ll have a good amount!

Lmao I taught my SO to cook for me this time round 😂 he's unemployed atm so might as well be useful! We always have a few batches of curry/chilli/etc in the freezer just in case though. With my son I had my mum come do 2 meals a day for me and wash my dishes so I didn't batch cook then either.

Yeah I'm way too lazy for prepping food lol, I didn't do it last time and survived lol. 
My husband will be home with me for the foreseeable future.. so he can cook lol. I will probably also take advantage of those meal prep boxes like Hello Fresh and stuff.. we use them now, so might as well stick with it occasionally to help.

I’ve been trying to figure this out too! I didn’t do it with my first and soooo regretted it. What sorts of things are you making to freeze? Are you putting them in smaller portions? I haven’t figured out those parts either. Ha.

I started looking into food prepping and freezer meals this week and i found a lot in pinterest with grocery lists so i’m going Thursday to buy this stuff and will probably prep Friday or Saturday. I’m 35 weeks now

I was thinking 36 weeks, that still gives me some time but they will not be sitting in the freezer forever. I'm also just simply behind with other things that are higher up in the priority list.
Though I'll have loads of help - situation very here is much better so we actually can have the grandmas and they are both very eager to help (and of course be around baby.)

Depending on whole foods delivery for prepared meals, my mom, and take out. I'm 36 weeks and definitely have energy to prepare meals, I just have so much crap in my freezer already that I would have to eat or throw out before I had room to store meals.

I don't have a big enough freezer for that. I didn't do freezer meals with my others either (3 and 20 months). I just did my normal cooking. I'll be doing the same this time. Though I didn't have a crockpot with my other two and I do this time. And crockpot cooking is so much easier than spending 2-3 hours standing over the stove! I think I'll probably plan a few days work of crockpot-only meals that first week.
