We just adopted a 7month old Rottweiler mix, he’s a BIG boy but this is his first time in an actual home and he’s got a lot to work on. We hired an in-home personal trainer and our evaluation is Thursday afternoon, but she won’t be doing any actual training until the next appointment. I know this isn’t going to be an overnight thing, we have the time and patience. I just need some tips on where to start. I have a 3y/o girl dog and got her at 8 weeks so she was much easier to train seeing as we got her right when she was able to be away from her mom. The dogs are doing much better in just a day, they play outside but inside they’ve had to be separated with only through a gate contact because shes a bit protective of her home, though we want to let them roam the house together fully tonight. We have a baby we’ll be keeping him away from unless we are holding her and my boyfriend can hold him back, he did good with her, just whined and licked her hands, but I know he’ll topple her over until he’s trained to be around her. He’s rowdy & jumps, were basically starting fresh, so what are some techniques I can start using to help get a head start pre-professional trainer?
