Very short first OB appointment?

Question

My doctor had been taking care of me for the first 20 weeks, then I got referred to an OB. I never chose the doctor as it went by what hospital I wanted to go to. I went to my first appointment today and felt very rushed and kind of brushed off. She asked me all of 3 questions (how far along, still taking vitamins, how many ultrasounds), then told me to drink 3 cups of milk a day, checked the heartbeat and had me on my way. She didn't even ask if I had questions until I was halfway out the door. 
Is that normal for a first appointment? Will they be more than 5 minutes the further along I get? I'm only 23 weeks so I understand not much is going on right now but I thought it might be more in depth than that. (I'm in Toronto, Ontario for reference)

I’ve seen 3 out of 5 OB’s at my hospital because they like for you to meet all of them since whoever is on call when you go into labor will deliver. All 3 of them are thorough in the things they have to go over, but one in particular doesn’t like to hang around for more than 3 minutes. My husband thought she was so rude because of that, but some doctors just don’t have a good bedside manner. It’s always pretty quick when any of them come in though, unless I keep them longer when I have questions lol If you feel uncomfortable, look into someone else. I specifically went to a hospital thats an hour away because I never felt heard by the ones in my town, and it’s the best decision I could have made.

The only appointments that aren’t fast are when I have an ultrasound but the appointments in between are pretty quick or even sometimes over the phone unless I have a concern and would rather come in.

I would look for a.new OB. My appointments are never rushed and can be anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. They ask me more questions than I can ask. You need to be comfortable and confident in the practice.

All of my appointments are fast. We commented one day about being ready for lunch and she was like “I’m not getting lunch today. I have 3 women in labor, a surgery in a minute, and I’m booked the rest of the day.” She has to run back and forth between opposite ends of the hospital 7 floors down and then 4 floors up in another building. She always answers my questions. I just have them written out and we cut out the chit chat if she’s busy. 
She’s always rushed but she’s a FANTASTIC dr who listens to my concerns even when I sound crazy. I was kind of offput at first, but after that comment I’m just like “Wow. Super woman.”

That’s how I felt at my 12 week appointment. It was in the middle of the pandemic so I associated it to that. I am seeing another OB in the practice in a few weeks. Everyone recommended to meet all of the doctors in the practice to get a feel of what we’d like. People in healthcare, my husband works in a hospital, are over worked and under staffed during this crazy time so hopefully you’ll have a better experience next time!
