Contractions ?

Question

Has anyone on here had contractions before but cervix still closed and it turned out to be something ? ( early labour ) 
Went to triage yesterday as I had pains every 5-6 mins and were painful and all of my belly was getting so hard with every wave ! 
Monitor did pick up the tightenings but when the dr checked me out he said “ you’re not in labour cervix is still closed ” 
So I went home but still having tightenings the next day ( I have slept all night so they are bare-able  ) 
Just wondering if anyone else had these symptoms and it was early labour ?

I literally had the same thing yesterday and went to the triage. I was having contractions 5 mins apart and my cervix wasn't dilated. They did a test to see if I would go into labour in next two weeks but it was negative. They told me uterus is irritated and to drink more water. But I drink enough water. I was reading online that most people who have this go into labour early. And its hard to tell when your're having real contraction because they are always there. They gave me a requisition for ultrasound so I'm going to have that done. I'm also worried about preterm labour since I'm just 31 weeks. Hopefully can pull it off till 37 weeks at least.

I had contractions since 23 weeks. The two days before I went into labor at 39+1 I had a doctors appointment and I was having contractions but my cervix was still closed. Depending on how far along you are and the level of pain it may be possible you’re body is preparing for active labor soon. Just my take on it from experience
