When should I go in?

Hi mamas,

I’m 39 w and 2 d today, and I’ve been in labor since yesterday morning. Last night I called L & D when my contractions were 3-4 mins apart and lasting over a minute, except they don’t hurt in my stomach at all, it’s pretty much just my back that hurts. L & D told me that I could either come in at that time or I could labor at home for a little bit and then come in when I felt like the pain was worse. I decided to labor at home for a little while and go in when it was worse. Fast forward to this morning, my contractions aren’t really hurting my stomach still, my back is still what hurts. The back pain did get a little bit worse and there’s an aching feeling in my lower abdomen but the contractions aren’t making me lose my breath or anything, it’s more of just a constant hurt. This is my first baby so I don’t know when to go into L & D?? Should I go this morning or should I wait longer??

Update: I went in and was dilated 3 cm. They had me walk around and see if things would progress, which they didn’t :(. I was still contracting every 5 minutes but I didn’t move past 3 cm so they sent me home. Hopefully things will start to move along!
