I’ve been separated from my husband for a year now, have just moved into a new home. For 12 months I’ve been seeing a male friend of mine, we have crazy chemistry! His wife left him 2 years ago but he says hes moved on but obviously has walls up still. We have phone calls that last 4 hours and walk for 3 hours! We had sex the other night for the first time and now I’m totally confused as I got this text from him
“ You know what I think we should go back to just friends. I wanted to explore if it was more, but reflecting over the exploring it still feels like friends to me. You haven’t done anything to make me make this call, keep being you. Sorry for disappointing you. Looking forward to having fun with you as a friend 🙂”
So now I’m confused and mortified, did I just imagine the chemistry? Was he that put off by seeing me naked?

I don't see why you are confused.
 He said it clear "he appreciate you, he wanted to see if it could be something more, he realised no, he rather remain friend".
No confusion, really straightforward.
Now the chemistry you are talking about was there but to him it's just friend.
Just accept what he has said. If you can handle the friendships and want to be friend, do.
If you can't because you know you will have feeling and expect more, tell him and move on.
Don't force yourself in a situation and don't force him in a situation.
I like people that are straight and to me he has been.

honestly in my opinion it sounds like he used you for sex and doesn’t like you like that... and now wants to keep messing around but as friends... or possibly he means he thinks he was a disappointment in sex and is begging you to still be friends because it got weird in his head...
