scared to go to obgyn

hey everyone I’m a 20 year old woman that’s been having some pain with sex almost every time my boyfriend and I do it. I feel like I should go to the dr but I’m absolutely terrified of the obgyn (get panic attacks and nightmares just thinking about it) and have never gotten an exam done because I don’t see the reason to. But now I’m starting to think about getting checked out but I still can’t bring myself to get a dr to look down there and put myself in that uncomfortable position. Does anyone have any tips of overcoming that fear or is in the same position as I am? Idk I guess a part of me is wondering how necessary it really is to get checked out.
