Once a cheater always a cheater?

Question for debate. Usually if I know someone has cheated in the past, I can’t help but assume it will happen again. What do you all think?

I personally think if they cheated in a past relationship, that shouldn’t define them now in their current relationship since people can change. 
HOWEVER, I believe if the person cheated in their relationship they are currently in and their SO took them back, they think they will get away with doing it more in the future and may repeat. To me, it isn’t worth the risk.

I think people can change. If someone cheated in a past relationship it doesn’t necessarily mean that they will in a future one IF they realize that what they did was wrong. However, I think that staying in a relationship with someone who has cheated on you will take a lot of work on both sides and the cheater needs to actually be repentant and the cheatee needs to regrow their trust - I think this process is really difficult and not a lot of people make it out of it together. I know personally that I couldn’t stay with someone who’s cheated on me. I know that I couldn’t ever regrow that trust in someone after a betrayal like that even if they feel terrible and make all the promises that it would never happen again.

I have cheated on boyfriends in the past but would absolutely never in a million years cheat on my current partner of 2.5 years. I was young, immature, insecure, and addicted to love/sex. After lots of therapy and growing up I can whole heartedly say I have changed. So I do think it’s absolutely possible for others to change as well.

People CAN change if they really want to. Sometimes people cheat and really actually don't mean to ... like they are in an unhappy relationship and someone shows them the love they crave and it just happens. Some people are just "the grass might be greener".  A lof of the time, the one who was cheated on is always on the look out for signs and can even push their partner to it. There are so many factors. 
I do have to laugh though, when people start a new relationship by cheating on their partner then say "they won't cheat again, s/he wasn't happy until i came along".

Yes and no.
I believe that if enough time elapses and the person goes thru some type of personal growth then they can reform and not be a cheater any more. 
But that takes time and work. If he cheated on you yesterday and didn't have an epiphany today then he will cheat again.
