What kind of relationship is this?

For the past month me and my best guy friend have been hooking up. I have feelings for him and he has feelings for me. However, he likes another girl too and may have feelings for one of my friends. He's told me that he's afraid to date me and ruin our friendship. We haven't gone the whole way yet but am almost there. I know we aren't friends with benefits since we both like each other and are doing it for more than just lust, just afraid of it ruining things between us since high school relationships usually don't work out. I don't know what kind of relationship I'm in or if it's healthy or not to stay in.
