How long before you’d move in with a partner?

I wanna hear why/why not. Me and coworkers were having a debate about this and someone said they wouldn’t move in at all unless they were married or had a child together.

I wouldn’t move in with someone I didn’t know for at least a year.
It takes *time* to truly know a person, and even then, you learn who they really are behind closed doors when you move in together. I wouldn’t feel comfortable moving in with someone I knew for less than a year or two.

My SO moved in with my dad and I after 3 months of dating, I was 17 (turned 18, 18 days later) and when he turned 18 he asked me out. It will be 11 years next month, we have kids and have never broken up or taken break🥰.

I moved in with my boyfriend (now husband) right away. A few months after meeting & dating on/off. As soon as we made it official we started spending the night together & became inseparable. I moved in with my so two months in, because I was young and got kicked out, so had nowhere else to go (I tried finding my own place, but due to my age and lack of job history nowhere would take me). If I were an older adult dating, though, or had options, I would probably wait at least a year. It’s very circumstantial. I would very likely never date again if I weren’t with my so, but if that ever came to be I’d have my children now, so it would be years before I decided to do that. It all just depends.

I think it's good to move in before getting married and having kids because there could be a fundamental incapability you don't know about till you live together. We moved in at 4 years together and sometimes it seems like it was all really fast and sometimes it seems like it was forever 🤷

Started dating he would say in my flat Friday Monday within the first few weeks then about 2 months later it was Wednesday til Tuesday as he would have to go home once a week to see his family as i lives 2 hrs away from his family and within the 1 year mark he moved in completely and we have been together 10 years in august

I always used to say at least a year, and anyone who did it sooner than that was nuts. *BUT*... then 2020 hit, and a global pandemic spread, I had only been with my boyfriend officially for 2 months when we decided he would move in with me. We are both healthcare workers so we decided to quarantine together, thank god it worked out because we are stronger than ever, I love him with all my soul.
