Bilingual kiddos?
Anyone else raising bilingual kids? My son is also a preemie and I’ve been really good at not getting worked up when he’s not where the herd is for his age, but it has been harder lately. He’s been stubbornly cruising and using a walker for 3 months now and will not walk. Recently he has been dragging his foot too to add to the stress of it. And now with talking, I notice it impacts his play milestones too which I didn’t anticipate (even though that should be obvious). Anyway, wondering if others are on the same boat? I have a lot of friends with kids who are within 3 months of his birth age, and he just seems so behind them. He can say 2 words, he cannot identify toys by name yet, follow commands, or point. Just started waving goodbye.
My son was born at 30 weeks, 4 days so according to his birth age he is going on 17 months, adjusted he’s going on 15 months in a few weeks. I think since he has thrived thus far, docs felt comfortable dropping his adjusted age and are now monitoring based on his birth age which just stresses me more. We speak mostly Turkish (his dad is Turkish) to him with some English.
