Earwigs in basement

Has anyone ever had an earwig problem in their house? We moved into our home 2 years ago and this is the first time I have seen earwigs! I killed 5 in the past 2 days 🤮. We lived in our old house for 7 year and I never saw one in there. Anyone know how to get rid of them? Our play room is downstairs so I’m worried about using anything that may be harmful to my one year old. Any suggestions?
