How Many Bottles???

Question

I am breastfeeding but going back to work after 6 weeks full time. My mom is a retired early education teacher and is keeping him while I work. I am planning to pump and she bottle feed him my milk while he's at her house. Realistically, how many bottles/nipples do I need? I have 6 dr. Brown's glass and 2 Joovy boob glass right now so a total of 8. I only have 1 nipple for each as of now because I have no idea what I need. I want only glass bottles and heard the best reviews on these 2. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and need to wrap up my baby shopping with the cash/cards I got from my shower.

I'd say it depends on whether you want your mom to wash and sterilize or not and how you plan to store milk.  My daughter stays home with my husband during the day. I have never missed more than 3 feedings in a row, so 3 nipples have been enough for us. I wash and sterilize them in the evening. We still use slow-flow nipples, but if I were to buy more, it would now probably be the medium-flow ones since she is getting older. As for bottles, we have 10, I believe. I always take some to work to use for pumping, leave some at home for her, and then we typically have a couple extra in the fridge. When I freeze milk, I use bags, not bottles. That's been enough for us, but it does require being disciplined about washing and sterilizing everything every day. Sometimes I think a few more would be nice, but it would probably only result in more washing, sterilizing, and counter space occupied by baby stuff.

I plan to breast feed but got bottles incase I need them for whatever reason I have purchased 8 bottles and they all came with nipples but I purchased some more nipples sepperately in size 2 and 1 i got the munchkin latch bottles but don't your bottles Come with nipples im confused?

Do you mean bottles to store milk or bottles per feedings? I store my Breast milk in medela bottles.. I keep 8 feedings in the fridge and freeze the rest I also alternate so the milk in the fridge never goes past one day...  For feeding I warm up her bottle and put the milk in another bottle.. Avent glass bottle. After I feed her, I wash her bottle. I keep two bottles for feeding and wash them after every use.

In the beginning, if baby feeds every 2-3 hrs, you're looking at 12 bottles. By the time you back to work baby maybe feeding longer but less. So I'd say 6-10 bottles. That way mom doesn't have to worry about washing them if she doesn't have time. She can rinse out and leave for you to do ince you pick baby up.
