Has anyone experienced the same thing?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years we are both 20 but don’t live together or anything. But, something weird very weird about us is that we always fight through text message. NEVER IN PERSON ITS ALWAYS IN TEXT. Could something be wrong with us? Or has anyone experienced the same thing? It’s kind of weird and idk if that’s a good thing or a bad thing

I see a couple possibilities. 1 - the 2 of you really communicate better with non verbal cues and misread each other through text (if the text is actually triggering the fights). If that's the case, as soon as it starts, stop yourselves and actually call or see each other to have the discussion. 
2- the 2 of you feel "safer" by text to express what you really feel. So in person, you're ignoring underlying issues, putting them under the rug so to speak. Maybe because you're busy, or the physical attraction pacifies you, etc. By text, you feel more confident to say how you really feel. If that's the case, that's a bigger issue. You need to deal with whatever problems keep arising by text,and learn in-person conflict resolution skills.
