When did you tell new big brother/sister?

This will (hopefully) be our second! I am 6 weeks tomorrow. When did you tell the older sibling? My son is almost 4! Thanks!

My son was the last person we told when we got pregnant with my daughter. He would’ve told the whole world. My advice:
If he sees family or friends (due to COVID I know some people aren’t visiting) I would definitely hold off on telling him.

My son was the first to know but only because he just turned one the other day and has NO idea 😂

I’m not sure.  My little one turned 4 in May.  We’re holding off for now.  Probably between 8 and 12 weeks.  I read a few articles and the consensus was like 12 weeks because you start showing around that time and it may be hard for them to understand also.  You’re also more likely to be sick in the first trimester and the article said the child might blame the baby.  
Idk I’m not sure there’s a right or wrong answer

We told my son when we were just a couple days away from our 1st ultrasound appt (around 8 weeks).  He was ecstatic about it but was able to keep a secret until we told everyone!  We just reminded him it was a secret.
This time he and his sister helped me to tell their Daddy with signs on their pajamas, so he told them right away out of shock when he read them, LOL!  My daughter has no idea what is going on but my son knows and has kept the secret so far!

I’m waiting until we know the gender. I had a miscarriage in November and we told my daughter right away with that babe. It was really hard to explain to her that there wasn’t a baby anymore. I am guessing we will know the gender around 12 weeks (blood test). So we will tell her then this time!

Actually my SIL told her 4 year old first, who definitely spread the news to us (even to strangers at a restaurant 😂☺️) but sadly had a loss a month later and it was devastating for the little muffin (that’s my nickname for her). It all depends what you’re comfortable with!
