Who’s in the right?

.

A little relationship debate.

My husband and I own an advertising business and live in a small town.

Some of our clients are somewhat “important” people and well known in our town, like restaurant owners and the township/mayor.

My husband believes that, because we run a business and are pretty well known, that we need to stay neutral on political and social justice issues on social media so as not to alienate clients.

I believe that, if you have a voice, you need to use it and stand up for what you believe in.

For example, he didn’t feel comfortable posting anything BLM related during the protests, while I did. (We’re both 100% in support of the BLM movement)

He gets uncomfortable when I make comments on news articles regarding wearing masks in public, or talking about COVID conspiracy theories (we’re both in support of wearing masks and don’t think that it’s fake)

As well as me being very pro-choice, feminist and vocal about it on social media.

He never has told me not to post or not to comment anything, and is absolutely not controlling in that sense. He just believes that we shouldn’t “rock the boat” because it may upset our clients and then we would lose business.

I think that business is not worth me staying quiet on issues I’m passionate about.
