Wic ?

Silly question maybe. How do I go about applying for Wic? I've called my local health department a dozen times & it always says "Wic is not available at this time" or something of the sort. So should I just go up to the health department tomorrow? Or?? & Is Wic immediately available to you or is there a waiting period before you can use the benefits?? Thanks

When I had WIC I had to call to make an appointment for an interview. During that interview they ask you a bunch of questions and then they determine if you qualify for WIC or not. Once your approved they give you the checks right away and you don’t have to wait.

Just go in to the office. Be sure to take your mask or they will not let you in. Even if you don’t get your benefits that day, or they make you set up an appointment, at least you get to speak with someone and they can answer your questions and get a little further than the voice prompt on the phone

Google your local WIC office and call their number directly. I just walked in (pre pandemic, where I am they are only doing appointments over the phone) and post pandemic, they gave me resources for getting insurance because I lost mine through my work and my husband's work.
