NCT Antinatal course?

Question

Has anyone done the NCT antenatal course? With all other baby payments the course is a little pricey (for me) and I'm just wondering if it's worth it? Will I learn anything that I can't look up online myself etc..?

I’ve heard it’s good for making friends but they don’t tell you anything more than the free ones. As if the NHS ones would leave out important info. Use that money to spend singing up to some nice baby class like baby sensory where you can meet lots of mums and do something with baby 😊

Seems like I'm in the minority here but I did the NCT course and I would recommend it. Even if it is just for the group. It means you have a handful of people in exactly the same boat as you to talk to and bounce off straight away. When you're up feeding at 3am and wondering if green poo is normal, they are there to ask and chat to! Our NCT group still talk every day 3.5 years later, 2 extra babies later and 2 current pregnancies. As for the course, I cant compare it to an NHS one but I found it very informative with regards to stages of labour, pain relief, breast feeding, and other things.

No it’s a waste of money , there isn’t anything you can’t learn from the free classes or online x

I didn't do it as it seemed far to pricey, but I did find the information and articles on the NCT website very informative and helpful. 
Also the the NHS start4life website is great has all the information you could want from pregnancy right through to toddler.
I did do a free NHS course but honestly I'd all ready read everything they were telling me online, I only learnt one thing and that was to wash baby's head first then dry it before washing the rest of the body. ( It helps keep baby warmer for longer)

We signed up to a cheaper local alternative, as had originally planned to only do NHS ones but obviously they're not running. Has been very valuable, especially as ours is run by a qualified midwife who is back helping out on the wards at the moment because of everything, so all the extra info and any covid related questions are getting answered too. They were the difference between feeling terrified and feeling very excited.

I did it and I wouldn’t do it again. You can learn everything they tell you through other free courses, books etc. It is good for networking with other parents though. However, I found that our group didn’t really click. We stayed in touch every so often over WhatsApp but it quickly died out. Not really worth the cost.

I didn’t do it but I have lots of friends who did. 
My husband and I did private hypnobirthing classes which were around the same price as an NCT group course. He’s a shift worker so he wouldn’t have been able to make all of the group classes.  
I did lots of other group classes as a way to make friends (prenatal yoga, baby massage, baby sign). The mum friendship group I’m now in all met through NCT though (I’m the ‘extra’ non NCT friend!) 
Personally I’d say the class content itself isn’t worth the money but it is a good way to make new mummy friends ... although there are other ways of doing this! X
