Tips on raising bilingual child?

I’m 4 months pregnant and my husband and I are thinking through how to raise our child to be bilingual. I’m buying baby books in both languages but wondering how people approach or plan to after giving birth? One family member speaks one language and the other does the other language?

My family is raised bilingual. We try to speak Spanish more in the home because they will speak and interact in English (in our case) in the “outside world” more often than not.

Out plan is to raise our kid bilingual. I’m going to speak only my native language, Russian,  talking to the baby, and my husband will speak English. 
Since we live in the US now, and everything is in English, we decided that most books, cartoons, educational stuff will be in my language. I also have friends who speak Russian at home, and they have a 4 year old, and a 7 month old. So my kid will have some friends who speak the same language. 
I know it’s going to be hard, but I’m ready to try my best to help my kid speak several languages. 
English is an easy language for a child to pick up so we should be more dedicated to the other language.

My son is being raised multilingual as well (English and French from me, Hindi and Punjabi from his dad) and from everything I’ve seen, it’s easier for one parent to always speak to the baby in whatever language is most comfortable for them. Little ones can pick up on it all so quickly.

We are living in Spain, our origin country, but we are US citizens and had been living in the US for a long time prior moving back home. I plan to always speak to my child in English, although it will be very hard, since it is not my first language so I know sometimes it won't come as naturally. My husband is unsure on what he will do yet ( although I am 37+3 already). I will put cartoons and use books in English only until he is 4 or so. We live near an American military base, I hope he can make English speaking little friends.

I will probably be raising my kids bilingual. I would like for them to be able to speak with my in laws. They barely speak any English but I know my husband won't really take the time to teach them. I will probably have his family teach them.

Our daughter is being raised bilingual as well. Her dad talks to her in Spanish as much as possible and I do the English, with some Spanish here and there. Whenever I find a multilingual toy I grab it, she also watches shows and videos in Spanish as much as possible. She doesn't sit well for book reading but we have some in both languages! It gets tough but stick to it, babies pick up on this stuff rather easily!

We are teaching Spanish, Russian, and German on top of English, which is our first language. We usually incorporate words into everyday conversation, but I’ve purchased workbooks for their ages/comprehension level and incorporated that into their Waldorf curriculum as well. We also use music in those languages and they really enjoy it.

My daughter is being raised bilingual as well. Her dad speaks to her in both languages but I encourage him to speak more to her in the second language. His side of the family only speaks Arabic & my side only knows English. So far she has been able to pick up a lot of both languages.  She definitely is more prominent in English since we both speak it but she is starting pick up more Arabic every day. I think it is helpful we live in Arabic speaking country. 
But you can get books in btoh langauges and you can read one language he can read the other. 
She is 2 now and watches tv shows and movies both Arabic & English.
Of course sing songs in both languages.

Yes, that’s what my brother did with his kids. I’m also gonna do that with mine. He told me to be consistent and stick to it. Getting cartoons in both languages, books and even music.
